What to Do When There's Nothing to Do (In- School 2)

There are times or circumstances at your placement when you need to keep busy or not bother your supervisor with, “What can I do now?” You need to find a way to look busy, keep a professional demeanour and demonstrate your preparedness for work when it arises.

Task:

1. You are to compile a list of “What to do when there’s nothing to do”, specific to your placement. This might be started as a brainstorming group work session during the Co-op in school period. The first several, “What to do when there’s nothing to do” items must be completed by the end of the period and checked off by the classroom teacher.

2. Now that you have generated your own “What to do when there’s nothing to do” list ideas, take your list to your placement and after consulting with your supervisor, finalize the list in a priority sequence.

3. From all the information you have gathered, create a formal, placement specific “What to do when there’s nothing to do” document. The formal document is to be submitted with your Final I.S.U.  Include the following:

a) Formal Cover Page. (all pertinent information included)

b) A second page (numbered), properly formatted and laid out containing your “What to do when there’s nothing to do” list.

c) Identify placement supervisors input and suggestions.

c) Have the form properly signed off by yourself and your supervisor.

4. Final summation: In a brief paragraph, state why this is a necessary component of every workplace.
